Customising a Chinese Bar Cabinet for John & Maria

A project with passion!

Some projects are simple purchases, while others unfold as beautiful journeys. This one with John and Maria, a newly married couple who walked into my Mirdif showroom, was exactly that—a journey of passion, detail, and joy.

The First Visit – Curiosity Meets Craft

When John and Maria stepped into Daos Den for the first time, they didn’t just browse—they explored. They took photos of every corner, asked questions about everything:

  • Where does the prepping tray fit?

  • Can the wine glass holder be customised?

  • What about the bottle compartments, mirror finishes, LED lighting?

Their eyes lit up at every explanation. It wasn’t just about buying a piece of furniture—it was about crafting a centrepiece for their new life together.

The Wait – Weddings, Honeymoons & Choices

I followed up with them a week later, but of course, weddings and honeymoons don’t leave much space for bar cabinet decisions. A month later, they returned—smiling, refreshed, and ready to dive into the details.

We went through lattice window designs, colour samples from previous projects, and even small details on door handles. Their enthusiasm was infectious. When they finally confirmed, we all felt a spark of excitement—this wasn’t just a cabinet, it was their cabinet.

Behind the Scenes – Crafting in China

The next step was to send the requirements to our workshop in China. This is where the hidden work begins:

  • Regular follow-ups despite the time difference

  • HD photos and videos sent to the couple

  • fine-tuning details so nothing gets lost in translation

It’s a delicate dance of patience, trust, and precision. John and Maria were always part of the updates, sharing in the progress from thousands of miles away.

The Wait & The Reveal – A Cabinet Worth Waiting For

Before it is sent to cargo, we QC’d it thoroughly: every hinge, every shelf, every LED light. Wrapped in two layers of bubble wrap and a 5cm thick foam box, it was protected like a treasure—because it was. After 5 weeks of craftsmanship and another 5 weeks of shipping, the cabinet finally arrived in Dubai.

And when John and Maria finally saw their customised bar cabinet in person, the joy on their faces said it all. The colour, the craftsmanship, the elegance—it was exactly as they had imagined. They shared photos of it proudly standing in their home and even left us a heartfelt 5-star review on Google.

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do. Seeing clients welcome a piece of history, customised just for them, into their homes—that is my greatest motivation.
